People Flying, 2010

People Flying is a playful celebration of the human body in motion. The work was shot with Super 8 film in a location beneath the rugged rock bluffs and vast canyon landscape of Glen Davis in the Capertee Valley, NSW.

Jumping figures are held in mid-air, suspended by an in-camera burst effect. Framing and projection create a playful illusion of continuous and jagged suspension of bodies in space, whilst the work was intended to be presented with a live score. The work is instead presented in a silent version for online presentation.
